The beach!

So the beach was once again a hit! We had a great time, the kids played in the sand all day, I got to get a little sun, Isaac was swimming like a fish, Daddy was recording the entire time, and Avri got to do her most favorite thing...strut around in her swim wear. One really funny thing was that we went to play mini golf and guess who is the only one to make not one, but two hole in ones.... Avri. I bet God must have laughed, and laughed at our faces when she did that. It was amazing. Me and my man's got to spend some nights just sitting on the balcony after the kids had gone to bed and talk, talk, talk. It was probably one of my favorite parts of the trip.

Heaven's Gain

Today, I was honored to be able to attended my friend Michelle's grandfather's funeral. Although, I was never fortunate enough to meet him before his passing, you could see in the faces of the people and in their words what an amazing man he was and how loved he was by his family and friends.

I know that you are grieving today Michelle, but always remember that our loss is Heaven's gain and we are all working towards that goal which he has achieved. I love you and your family are in my prayers.

Help me make it through the night.....

So, tonight is our last day of VBS and tomorrow starts our Family Vacation/Isaac's B-day week! We leave in the morning for Atalanta for a Birthday trip to Six Flags and then leave bright and early Sunday morning for the beach! This trip could not have come at a more perfect time. My past couple of weeks have been really tough and I want nothing more right now than to just have some family time and focus on some fun wtih my babies and Phillip. I can't wait to see Isaac's face when he sees all of the huge roller coasters and Avri being sure to point out every snack vendor. I am also thrilled at the thought of us all having a week to play on the beach with no distractions and having Daddy all day and all night is always a treat. Please pray for safe travels and we will see you when we get back!!!!

Father's Day project

So the kids and I were working on a Father's Day project for Phillip and my Dad today. I did one of those little books asking the kids questions about each one. So I ask Isaac... What is Papa's Job? "Well, I think he is assistant manager at the church"....My Dad is the pastor. I love how it was assistant, not even manager.

I ask Avri....What does Daddy look like? He looks like a really cool man. Phillip will love that one.

I can't wait to see thier faces when they open them up!

VBS opening night

Last night began our Vacation Bible School week at Sparks Gap Baptist Church. I am the VBS director and it is a job that I have really enjoyed doing over the past few years. Now it is a lot of work and by the end of the week I am just about ready to be committed, but the kids make it all worth while. To hear these children, some of who only have bible school as their church time, to pray and talk so excited about Jesus is a blessing.

Phillip and the youth group have also done a really great job by providing a puppet show for the kids each night to go along with the lesson. I will be sure to share pictures of the weeks events!

Celebrating Isaac

Since we are leaving Saturday for Six Flags, we decided to have an early family celebration for Isaac. The day started by Phillip taking Isaac birthday shopping. He was given an amount of money and allowed to buy whatever he wanted with it. Here is what we wound up with ...

Six of the same Hulk action figure.... he needed all of them because each has on a different color pant. You have to know Isaac to understand this logic.

Next, we invited my mom, dad, sister, and BIL to come over for some Hulk cake and icecream. We had a blast and Isaac was very happy with his Hulk birthday. He is even skipping out on our VBS end of the week party so that he can catch the opening of Hulk the movies...do you see there is a theme here. I love you Isaac, you are my Super Hero!

Baking with Daddy

HOld on to your seats.....my husband likes baking. He made me a birthday cake for my birthday and now is always volunterring to help in the kitchen. So of course, I use this to my advantage and bring up the poin that I bet homemade cookies are much better than store bought and he volunteers to give it a go. Avri was happy to be his helper for the evening and together than made thier first batch of real chocolate chip cookies! They were delicious! Can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

Me, Myself, and I

So I have been thinking about myself a lot lately. You know the usual... am I a good person, do I treat others the way I want to be treated, am I someone that my children can look up to, is God please with the woman I have grown up to be?? And after days of worrying and wondering I have come to a conclusion...... I'm me! I know there are plenty of things others might change about me and of course I can always strive to be a better example for my children, but at the end of the day I truly am happy with the person that I am. I'm forgetful, messy, way to early or way to late, I talk over people when I get excited, I'm scared of my shadow, and I always commit to more than I can actually accomplish and I know this. They are not my best qualities, but they are part of me and I have come to a point in my life where I am going to be happy being me no matter what anyone else thinks.

I was talking to a friend the other day and she said something that made me feel a lot better "If you took away everything about your personality that somebody did not like, eventually there would be nothing left of you" Can you imagine, no Misty left, now that is a tragedy!

Happy Birthday Michelle!

Last night we hit the mean streets of South Side to celebrate Michelle's big 31! We ate at a trendy little hot spot with big prices and small portions, but the food was really great and it was cool to go to a place that was different! I am so glad I got to share your birthday with you and I hope there are many more. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I miss my man!

Okay, so this is day 5 without Phillip and I am going nuts! You never realize how much you need someone until they are not with you. Tomorrow will be the longest we have been apart since we got married. I confess, there are those days when I am like get out of my face, but right now nothing seems right with him gone. You all know I cannot sleep without him here and I just miss seeing his stupid face. The house is too quiet, he always comes in after work and riles the children up by running around crazy and rolling in the floor with them.

He will be back on Saturday and I can't wait to give him a big smooch and fall asleep without the children and I locked in by bedroom with my home phone, cell phone, and gun in the cloest!

Oh what a night!

With Phillip being out of town my sweet friend Angelle decided to take me and the kids in for the night. We had such a great time! The kids played and faught, played and faught, Angelle slaved over the stove and each child promptly asked for spegehetti. We enjoyed some fabulous smores with no injury. We put the kids in the tub, which the girls turned into a bubble factory. After getting them "setteled in" with a movie Angelle and I went down stairs to scrapbook in her fabulous new craft area. I think we would have gotten more done, but we could not stop gasping at the new video game Chris was playing, GTA (you have to know the lingo). It was definately a fun night and Angelle is so brave for having us over. It will be my only restfull night of sleep this week since I knew I had Hulk Hogan downstairs to protect us. I will be so happy when my mini Hulk is back to protect me against all those murders and rapists out there waiting for me.

Of course there were lots of memorable quotes from the night, but I must tell you my favorite compliments of Alex Copenhaver after Isaac had made an issue of having dirt on his foot: "Imagine if you were poor then you would be dirty all the time." I think sombody has been watching to many Disney movies with the poor chimney sweeps. I love you Alex, I am always waiting to see what you will say next!

And I cannot leave Avri's out as they are going downstairs to clean up Alex says "lets go clean up" and Avri replies "Yea, so we can make some money!" She is a woman after my own heart.

Here are the pics below of the PJ party, Thanks again Angelle and the Copey family for keeping us company!

God has blessed us with such a wonderful life and I want to share it with you!
