He is killing me! So, after assuring her that we would never discourage Isaac from reading his Bible, though it really had not occured to me until she said it, that he really is old enough to begin reading it on his own, I had a little chat with him. I did tell him that it was Mom and Dad's fault that we had not begun to encourage him to read it on his own and that he did indeed own a Bible and that we would pull it out and talk about it when we got home.

As soon as we got home he ran into his room and pulled it out of the drawer and I as I was in my bedroom changing clothes, I heard him reading it aloud...."In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." No sound could have been more sweet to my ears and my eyes welled up with tears. I stopped right then and thanked God for not only giving him the ability to read and speak, but I prayed that he would instill in him a Love for his Word. Once I pulled it together, I walked in and gave him a big kiss on the forehead and told him how proud it made me to hear him reading God's word to which he replies...."You mean every word in the world is in here?" to which I answered...."The only ones that matter are.":)
Gillispie Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07998401844609392396noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728840130907092569.post-18614743015658098452009-04-29T06:06:00.000-07:002009-04-29T06:45:12.680-07:00Oh taste and see that the Lord is goodI could not wait to sit down this morning and write this post. My cup got filled to the brim last night and is still overflowing this morning. I got the oppotrunity to attend the Girls Night Out with Hunter Street and Sherry Burgess came to speak. That seemed exciting enough, but there was so much more in store for us. After singing worship songs and just praising the Lord for a little while the song "I will rise" by Chris Tomlin began to play and one by one these beautiful woman of God holding cardboard signs came walking out. Each sign told of some unimaginable trials or some heartbreaking bondage by sin. Once they stood for a while and revealed the deepest parts of themselves, they flipped the cardboard and revealed God's amazing work in thier lives, his Deliverance, his Grace, and his Love. I am always overwhelmed by God's loving mercy, no matter how many times he displays it so clearly right in front of my face. The Holy Spirit was so thick in that place, all I could do was cry and praise him for loving me. Each one was so amazing, but when I saw one of the most dearest people in my life walk out with her sign, I was just floored! My instant reaction was to want to run up there and hold her hand, I did not want her to stand up there alone...but see she has a friend that sticks closer than a brother and He was there holding all of those ladies hands the entire time. Because these woman did not get up there to praise themselves for what they had overcome or to show how strong they were, but to Magnify our Savior and show how AWESOME HE is.

Afterwards, Sherry Burgess got up and shared her amazing testimony. Her love for God is so evident and her purpose is so clear. She was not there for pity or praise, but to encourage others to go out and work to further His kingdom regardless of our circumstances.....

It was such a great night and I am so thankful I got to be there. If I get my hands on a DVD you better watch out, I am holding a screening.

And to my dear friend....Thank youGillispie Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07998401844609392396noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728840130907092569.post-57038567118651161472009-04-24T17:02:00.000-07:002009-04-24T18:21:34.501-07:00Avri's Pony Party<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5328432654060725810" style="DISPLAY: block; This kid wanted a pony party and she wanted it bad! So since we had never done anything extremely grand for her parties before and Isaac has had more than his fair share of birthday blow outs, I decided 5 was a good age to just go all out! I called and set up the ponies and this crazy birthday planning began. First off, our yard is a mess, so I put Phillip right to work, fixing our deck, removing old stumps from the yard, cutting grass, hauling out old stuff from under the deck, preassure washing, that poor man was just beat. The things you do for these kids:) Finally, after a reschedule because of rain, the pony party day came. It was everything she had dreamed of! Two ponies, farm animals to pet, a homemade pony cake, and lots of people who love her! We have some of the best friends in the world and they pulled on thier boots and came out to join us! We all had a really awesome time! When it was all over with and everybody had gone home, she looked at me and said "Thanks for working so hard on my party mama, it was a perfect day"........totally worth it!

Gillispie Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07998401844609392396noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728840130907092569.post-46001554734722175872009-04-24T16:40:00.001-07:002009-04-24T16:50:13.191-07:00We finally got a peice of the pie!

So after two long years with a patch on my ceiling (I won't name any names;), I finally have them repaired!!!! Tonight was one of those sweet prayers that I wanted to jot down before my febal mind forgot it. Avri was praying tonight and as she always does, she asked God to bless each family member by name, her friends, her animals and then out of the blue she says "And God, please bless the ponies that are coming to my party (birthday) with the strength to give us a ride and still enjoy my party. Please let them know that we are thankful for them." It was just so sweet and it made me proud! I could take a lesson from her. So often I pray for strength for myself, whether it be physical, spiritual, or emotional, and never think to pray for the strength of others. So tonight, I am praying for the strength of all my friends and family whatever thier circumstance..........from the mouth of babes.........Gillispie Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07998401844609392396noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728840130907092569.post-7360610273556985732009-03-24T08:14:00.000-07:002009-03-24T08:32:00.902-07:00Happy Birthday to my darling daughter!

5 years ago today, I met my daughter. The way that she entered the world would be a small glimpse into the personality of this little girl. She raced to get here the day she was born, two weeks to early and in record time compared to her brother (4 hours). From the moment she breathed in her first breath she let us know exactly how she felt. She screamed from the moment she was born until the moment that she was finally cleaned up and dressed like a lady should be! Til this day, she is exactly the same. She can't wait to do all the things that the big girls do and she will let you know what she thinks wheather you want to hear it or not. Although it can be a challange at times, I love that she is so sure of herself, confident, and enjoys just being Avri.

Avri has changed my life in so many ways. She makes me want to be a woman that she can model herself after. I want her to grow up and know that though I was not perfect that I wanted to teach her most of all how much God loves her and that this life is meant to serve him. I want her to know that beauty really is just skin deep and that the beauty of your heart will continue to shine despite the lines and gray hair. And I want her to know that she has made my life so amazing and that her little smile and silly laugh has turned this world upside down in the most wonderful way:)

Avri, I hope you always remember what this day represents not only for you, but for your entire family! We love you so much and cannot wait to see the amazing life that God has in store for you! I mouthed to Phillip not to say anything because if he knew we were watching, he would have stopped immediately. Then I saw him raising up his sleeves and pushing on his "Muscles". He whips his head around and says "Have you seen how big my muscles are getting?" I, of course, responded "Absolutely!" He gave me a big smile and went right back to his dinner. What I wouldn't give to know what is running through that beautiful mind all day!Gillispie Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07998401844609392396noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728840130907092569.post-52380968782127545442009-03-08T15:59:00.000-07:002009-03-08T16:13:14.530-07:00Happy Birthday Phillip!

30 years ago today, my husband was born! It amazes me when I sit and think that before he and I were even born that God had already planned out this life for us. I am so thankful for this man. He is and will always be the love of my life. I love that he still makes me feel like the prettiest girl in the room, I love that when he walks in the door he is running wild with the kids, I love that he loves God above anything else, and I love that he has never been unsatisfied with who he is. It is funny to hear people describe him and I just kind of have to laugh within myself. I know that nobody in this world knows the Phillip that I know. Those wonderful parts of himself that he only shares with me (I know I am leaving this wide open for some jokes, but I am serious). He is absolutely the most amazing husband and father and we could not be more proud of him! Happy 30th Birthday Daddy! Why they come and go, how relationships can change, and how something so simple can suddenly become so hard. I24 have really had to take a deep look at who I am as a friend and what kind of friend I am teaching my children to be. I have prayed all week for a little wisdom on the subject and this morning while I was spending some time with the Lord, it seemed so clear what he wanted me to learn. Proverbs 18:24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. I can tend to ignore the best friend I will ever have, Jesus. I worry so much about improving or repairing my earthly relationships that I forget to nurture my relationship with him. If my friendship with Jesus is not solid then I can't be who I need to be for others. I'm like duh, how did I miss that! Matthew 6:33 says But, seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. I can't have God playing second fiddle and expect him to bless the relationships that I have put before him. It just does not work like that. My relationship with him has to come first period, before Husband, before children, before friends. I mean he already told me if I would focus on him that he would take care of that other stuff anyway so it is a win, win, win situation. Thank you Lord for giving me a little thump on the head when I need it and I need it alot:0Gillispie Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07998401844609392396noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728840130907092569.post-66890297627760069712009-02-10T19:15:00.001-08:002009-02-10T19:24:31.101-08:00My cup runneth over...I have this verse posted in my kitchen and as I cleaned up today and glanced at it, I realized just how true it is. God has really just filled me up to the brim and I am so unworthy. He has placed my family in a position that I am able to raise my children at home. We are all healthy. I have all of my family close by me. God has restored friendships that I thought were lost forever and strengthened them into something so much better than they were before. I have a husband who loves God and serves him, he is such an inspiration to me. My kids are amazing. And best of all, I am a child of the King. Thank you Lord for loving my crazy tail!Gillispie Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07998401844609392396noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728840130907092569.post-33300179163850790122009-01-15T04:56:00.001-08:002009-01-15T05:00:21.472-08:00Is he trying to tell me something???So, I am in the living room last night listening carefully to Isaac reading his worksheet sentences aloud to himself and then correcting them. I was so pleased that he had not yet called out "Mom, I need your help" and was breezing through the problems. Then I heard him say alound the next sentance......"My shirt is wrinkled." I waited to hear which letters needed to be capitalized or if there was a period or question mark and I hear him say..........." Wow, like that is a big shock!" Ouch, Angelle I may need some ironing lessons.Gillispie Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07998401844609392396noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728840130907092569.post-49706982132304592662009-01-09T11:02:00.000-08:002009-01-09T11:25:24.939-08:00Christmas 2008<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289373417307828402" style="DISPLAY: block; My sister and our families pack up our bags and spend Christmas Eve night with my parents. We all spend the night and wake up to Santa and breakfast the next morning. Each year before we begin tearing into our gifts, my Dad reads us the Christmas Story and we remind ourselves what an important day this symbolizes, the birth of our Savior. We exchange gifts and spend the rest of the night sharing memories, watching movies, and just enjoying our time together. It is a tradition that I cherish and look forward to every year. Oh, and this year we added DreamLand ribs to the mix!!! I renewed old friendships and made peace with those I had to let go.
2. I learned that little boys don't stay little for long.
3. I saw my husband truly proud of himself for probably the first time ever (he never thinks he is good enough).
4. I came to realize that "normal" is just a word and something I hope my children never grow up to be. After all, the Bible says we are a peculiar people:)
5. I got to be there with my best friend before her mother began her battle against breast cancer. She and the Lord beat that cancer to a pulp!
6. I discovered Avri really is to big to be carried on my hip, though I still do it.
7. I add a few more laugh lines to my collection.
8. I celebrated 10 years of marriage.
9. I told my childhood home goodbye and welcomed my parent's to the neighborhood.
10. And I know that each year brings me closer to my final goal.

Looking forward to 2009 can bring its anxieties... my little girl heading off to Kindergarten is a big one for me and each year Isaac's questions become harder and harder to answer. Each year I am wondering if I am doing it right....don't we all. As uncertain as the future is, one thing is for certain...God is there. My Dad preached on these verses Sunday and it gave me such a peace. A peace of knowing that no matter where this year takes me that God is ever present.

Psalm 139: 1-24. Read it all, but here are some of the verses that really spoke to me.

1.O Lord, You have searched me and known me. 2.You know my sitting down and my rising up: You understand my thought afar off. 3. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. 4. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. 5. You have hedged me behind and before, And laid your hand upon me.

17: How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! 18. If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with you.

What an assurance to know that God is with me every step of the way. My Father, my Comforter, my Savior, my Friend. I just pray that if you don't have that assurance that you would ask Jesus into your heart. Better than that, I hope he will make your bed a bed of rocks until you do! I say that out of Love because we all need a savior! That is one thing that I thank my parents most for. They built me up like nobody's business. They told me I was the prettiest, the funniest, the most talented kid on this earth, but they also told me that if I did not have Jesus as my Savior that I was just a pretty, funny, talented lost sinner. Now I am a pretty, funny, talented sinner saved by his Grace!

I wonder what he says to himself when he thinks of me.... I imagine something like "Didn't I just get her out of a fix" or "You just promised you would not ask for anything else" or "She just can't keep that trap of hers shut". I think that is probably one of those things I will ask....."What were you thinking when you threw all this together and made me?" HA!

Anyway, enough with my ramblings... Have a wonderful New Year and remember me and mine when you pray:)Gillispie Bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07998401844609392396noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728840130907092569.post-87135308749922998452008-12-24T12:22:00.000-08:002008-12-24T12:23:04.974-08:00Earning thier keep

The older they get, the more these kids mess up!
