My baby is 4!

Four years ago today my beautiful daughter was born. I can remember thinking, "what am I going to do with a girl?" I was so use to being Isaac's mom and just wasn't sure about the transition. I have to tell you, I was amazed at how effortlessly it came to me. She was born at 12:15 p.m and the moment she entered the world she has had my entire family wrapped around her little finger. This little girl is truely everything I could ever want in a daughter. She is funny, kind, loving, smart, and a little sassy. What can I say, she is my best friend. I see so much of myself in her, yet I see this little person I could never have imagined up.

Today her Dad brought her home a "big girl bicycle with training wheels" and she flipped. She ran inside grabbed her sunglass, cell phone, water bottle, a little doll and then she was ready to ride. She fell once and got a boo-boo on her hand, but after making sure everyone knew she was injured, she jumped right back on. Later on at dinner, she asked to say the blessing since she was the birthday girl and she said "I bless my daddy for bringing me this big girl bike and I bless God for it being my birthday... I could not have said it better myself.

I love you so much Avri and I can't wait to see each birthday to come!

Easter 2008

The Gillispies had a wonderful Easter today. We spent the day with family and friends thanking God for what this day means. It was so exciting to see the kids curious about the real meaning of Easter. They also enjoyed thier Easter bunny treats. To make this day even more special it was my Mom's Birthday! It was just a great laid back day of fellowship and fun!

Career in the Circus, maybe?

Isaac is always coming up with something to make me laugh. Now he has begun his career as a contortionist. I hope Ringlings pays well!

The best gift!

Saturday I got one of the best gifts in the world. My little girl comes running in the house with a handful of "flowers" for me and with a huge smile says "I picked these just for you mom!" I was so excited that I made her pose with them for scrapbooking to come. Everyday I see more and more those little things my mother would tell me that I did as a child coming out in her. My mother use to tell me stories of how I would spend hourse outside picking "flowers" for her, roots and all. I use to think how silly it was and how she must have gotten tired of all those "flowers" laying by the sink.

You know your a mom when a handful of weeds is more precious than anything money could buy.

I am amazed!

Sometimes in this life you can forget how truly giving people can be and I have recently been reminded. As most of you know, I am walking for Autism again this year and people have just been amazingly generous with their donations in honor of Isaac. Co-workers, friends, & family have just gone above and beyond anything I could have expected and I am so grateful. It just touches my heart that there are people out there who want to see good things happen for families like mine who are just desperately praying, searching, and hoping for a cure, improvement in early intervention, funding for adults with autism transitions, etc....

Isaac recently saw himself on my fundraising website and asked about it. I told him that it was for our walk for Autism and he just said "oh, okay, cool." I wonder if he understands. We have never hidden the word from him or it's relation to him, but it is not quite time for that "talk" yet as I don't feel like he is ready to grasp it and I am definitely not ready to explain it to him. I just hope that as he grows that he feels pride at attending these events and owning this part of who he is. You still get those "poor autistic kid" looks every once in a while when it comes into conversation, but people that know us and know Isaac know that it is not something that we are ashamed of, afraid of, or would change if we had the chance. His daily growth and healing is part of what makes our family who we are and we are blessed!

God has blessed us with such a wonderful life and I want to share it with you!
